After twenty years as an elementary school teacher, with specialized training in dyslexia and learning challenges, I’ve learned that the child struggling most at school is rarely the child with the least going on for them. I work with children ages 8 to 12 who are having a hard time finding their footing in a system that doesn’t always fit the way they learn, think, or regulate. You know this morning: three reminders to find shoes and pack a bag, a kid who’s frustrated before you’ve even left the house, and by bedtime the same fight happening again. You’re not doing anything wrong. Your child is capable, and right now that capability is getting lost under school struggles, friendship strain, and a confidence hit neither of you knows how to stop.
In our sessions, I pay close attention to how a child feels most comfortable in the room, their pace, their space, whether words are coming easily or not at all. With younger clients, that often means connecting through toys, games, drawing, or just talking about what they’re into. I’ll remember their birthday, the game they were excited about, the friend they mentioned last week, because I want them to feel known, not managed. I don’t chase an agenda or a technique over the relationship itself. Some sessions build a new skill. Others just build trust, and that counts just as much. My years in the classroom taught me that no two kids need the same thing from the adult in front of them, and I bring that same instinct into the therapy room, along with a steadiness colleagues have always counted on me for when things start to feel reactive.
I understand this from more than one side. As a parent myself, I know the worry, the advocating, and the uncertainty that comes with trying to support a child who’s struggling, and that’s shaped how I work with the whole family, not just the child in the room. I currently see clients in person and virtually, and I’m accepting new clients now.
Outside of work, home is full and a little chaotic in the best way, my husband, our kids, two Vizslas who keep us on our toes, and usually a DIY project half finished somewhere in the house. If you’re not sure exactly what your child needs, only that what you’re doing right now isn’t working anymore, book a free consultation call so we can help you find a solution that actually works for you and your family.

A Little About Me
Outside of work I am a mom of two teens, who I love spending time with.
We have two dogs, Luna and Sheera, both high-energy Vizslas that keep me moving! I like to read forensic thrillers and watch Home Reno shows, or play the piano, tinker in the garden, and use my creative energy to complete hands-on projects around the home.
