Everything You Need to Know Before Starting Therapy With Us

Choosing a therapist is an important decision. Whether you’re meeting us in person at our Newmarket, Ontario clinic or virtually from anywhere across the province, you deserve to feel confident, informed, and ready for your first session.

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in Ontario

Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions we hear — from how virtual therapy works to how we match you with the right therapist on our CRPO-regulated team.

If your question isn’t here, we’d be happy to answer it directly. Just reach out or book a free consultation.

Do you offer in-person sessions or only virtual therapy?

Both. We see clients in person in Newmarket and securely online across the province. Virtual therapy is often more flexible and accessible, while in-person sessions can be a good fit if you’re local and prefer face-to-face connection.

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes. Research shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy — and in some cases, even more so. Many clients find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own space. We use secure, confidential video platforms to ensure your privacy and create the same level of connection you’d expect in the therapy room.

Who can you work with?

We provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families. We see adults, teens, and children (age 6+) depending on the therapist’s specialty. Our therapists are licensed to practice psychotherapy in Ontario and meet all requirements of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

During your free 20-minute consultation, we’ll ask about your goals, preferences, and any specific needs. Then we’ll match you with a therapist whose training, experience, and style best fit what you’re looking for. You can also view each therapist’s profile and select someone yourself.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

It depends on your goals and the nature of what you’re working through. Some clients work with us short-term (6–8 sessions) to address a specific concern. Others stay longer to deepen personal growth or sustain relationship changes. Our approach is results-focused, so you’ll always know where you are in the process.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes. We know life is busy, so we offer evening, weekend, and same-day sessions whenever possible. This applies to both in-person and virtual appointments.

Is therapy covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans cover psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. We recommend checking with your provider to confirm your coverage. After each session, we provide a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurer.

What if my partner or family member won’t come to therapy with me?

You can still make powerful changes on your own. Many clients begin therapy solo and learn strategies that naturally shift the dynamic in their relationship or family. You do not have to wait for others to be ready to start.

How much does therapy cost?

Rates vary based on the therapist’s level of training and experience. We have a range of fees to make therapy as accessible as possible, including reduced-rate options. We’ll discuss cost and options with you before you commit to sessions.
